It was an attentive neighbour that introduced Eugenio Alafaci to cycling. Coming from a family without emotional bonds to sports, Alafaci was nonetheless a standout for his striking activeness and fitness as a young boy. At age 7, he joined the team that had welcomed the young Ivan Basso in the past and learned all the tips and tricks about training and racing. The Italian has a special liking for the monuments of cycling, with Milan-Sanremo obviously at the top of his list, and admires a rider like Fabian Cancellara for his racing style and panache. In 2012 Eugenio came close to winning on lots of occasions, with 7 podium placings, but he missed to luck to top it all with a victory. His goal for this year is to score the first win, step up as a cyclist and help the team as much as possible. Eugenio: "I worked often for Brambo, our sprinter in 2012, and I had my own chances too, but I was missing just that bit of luck. I hope in 2013 luck will be on my side!"
