It would be a difficult task to single out who has the hardest job on a professional cycling team. Soigneurs must come very high on the list since theirs is practically a 24 hour a day endeavour. From having to make the lunches and pack the musette bags in the morning, to massaging the riders and doing their laundry in the evening, the soigneurs’ day is taken up entirely with the needs of the cyclists they care for. Every task from cook to confessor can be the role of a soigneur. And they are a special breed of people since every one of them will say they love their job.
