All set for the Trofeo Laiguelia

Next Saturday, the 49th Trofeo Laiguelia is on tap, a totally different race than LEOPARD TREK’s season opener, the GP Costa degli Etruschi. It’s a race of almost 200km, fit for riders who still have the necessary punch to make the difference in the final.

The race around the Ligurian town of Laiguelia is 196,5km long and consists of three laps (97,2km – 53,6km – 45,7km) over four tough climbs, including three times over the Testico. The last 5 kilometers serve two short climbs to the peloton, making it a very interesting race for punchers.

Director Adriano Baffi: “For us, this race is another test. The riders are all in a good condition. Now we’ll see how good their shape is compared to the peloton. After ‘Etruschi’ and the training camp, I believe we can do a good race. For the LEOPARD TREK riders, a part from Alexandr Pliuschin, it will be their first race of around 200 kilometers. The race will probably be decided with a small peloton, of which some riders will try to escape. This can suit a rider like Eugenio Alafaci, Bob Jungels or Alexandr Pliuschin well."

The line-up for the Trofeo Laiguelia: Eugenio Alafaci, Bob Jungels, Julian Kern, Alexandr Pliuschin, Pit Schlechter, Fabio Silvestre and Joel Zangerle.
