The 142 km between Aigle and Châteland favored a breakaway attempt to be succesful. A break of five rider battled for the win, with Alexey Lutsenko of the Astana continental team taking the win. Eugenio Alafaci was able to follow the group of the overall leader and finished in 9th place.
Adriano Baffi: "It's too bad Eugenio will be our only rider competiting in the individual time trial tomorrow, but we cannot change this. This race was very, very hard for our riders, but we did well: we had 2nd, 3rd and 5th place in the prologue, Alex tried his luck in the break and Bob won the Queen stage in a fabulous way. Hopefully Eugenio can do well tomorrow too."
