The last stage of the 49th Giro del Friuli Venezia Giulia, from San Daniele to Moruzzo, was a fight until the end. Lots of riders tried to attack the white jersey of Diego Rosa, with his team, Team Palazzago, successfully controlling the pack. A group of five riders, including the number six in the general classification, that attacked with 7km to go, seemed to be successful in their attempt, but was caught with only 500 meter to go. Davide Villella, who won yesterday's sprint in Tarvisio, outsprinted Daniele Aldegheri (Trevigiani) and LEOPARD TREK rider Julian Kern to the line. For Villella it's the second win in this Giro after the one yesterday in Tarvisio. Fabio Silvestre was 6th and Bob Jungels 9th, proving the general good shape of the team
Jungels protected his second place overall with success, and also wins the green jersey of the best young rider. Jungels: "My goal for this Giro was to arrive on the podium, so I can be very satisfied. Today the stage was very hard, and the Italian riders were very strong. I didn't have the best legs in the first part of the race, because of my efforts yesterday. In the final sprint, I focused on the riders that were behind me on the GC and I gained an extra six seconds. I'm happy with this results - for myself, but also for the team."
Adriano Baffi: "We didn't win a stage in the Giro, but we did very well in general. Our big goal for the first part of the season, the Flèche du Sud, is in one-and-a-half week. The team is in a very good shape, and we still have a small trainings camp coming up in Luxembourg. I'm exited for the next weeks."
